New Build – 6 Flats
Location: Kensington
If you’ve started thinking about extending your home, it might be because you have a growing household that needs increasingly more space. On the other hand, you might be eager to enhance your home’s value in preparation for a potential sale of that property.
Whatever your incentives for wanting to create a home extension in London or any of the Home Counties and whatever ideas you have in mind for that extension, you can discuss all of this at a free consultation with us.
Whether the extension will add just a few feet or comprise two storeys, we can design it to your precise requirements and preferences, obtain any planning consent that may be required and then build the extension in line with your specifications.
You could be brimming with exciting ideas for the shape your home extension project has the potential to take. For example, you could anticipate using the new space as an open-plan dining area or well-equipped games room.
However you envisage transforming your abode with an extension, though, we would urge you to initially think in broad terms. Our architects can come up with innovative designs more cost- and space-efficient than you originally had in mind.
Often, improving an existing property is a more affordable strategy than moving to a new home - especially given that, with the latter, the likes of estate agent fees, solicitor’s fees and stamp duty can all add up to a daunting degree.
Once you have approached us with your ideas for a house extension, we will arrange to visit your home and, there, carry out a survey that will help us to establish the feasibility of your ideas.
Then, we can start drawing up design sketches, enabling us to see how we can - while keeping your regularly-solicited feedback on board - continuously revise them, bringing us closer to finalising a design to which our builders will be able to effectively work.
Work they will, too – at your home, all the while minimising disruption to your household’s day-to-day life as the extension comes together. We will do everything from installing skirting boards to fitting the plumbing and electrics.
If your home is a detached, semi-detached or end-of-terrace property, then a multi-storey side extension is one idea that might be practically viable for your home. You are especially likely to be able to obtain planning permission for this kind of extension if you have ample available space to the side of your house.
You could potentially extend a detached house by having the extension built right around a corner of the property, thereby creating what is essentially a combined side-return and rear extension. You could already have quite a few ideas for how to effectively use the extra space.
If your live in a detached, semi-detached or terrace property not previously extended, you could investigate whether it would be practical for you to opt for one of the following rear extension options.
What if your house was built with an extension or received one shortly after the original building was assembled?
In that case, it might be possible for you to extend yet further. If your local planning department deems the new extension integral to the original house, you could more easily have one of the types of extensions listed below built without requiring any planning permission.
Encouragingly, extending a house tends to count as permitted development. This means that your house extension project is unlikely to require you to obtain planning permission before the building work can begin. Nonetheless, your project might be an exceptional case.
Only half of the land area surrounding your “original house” can be covered by additional buildings under permitted development. Your “original house” is how your home was in 1948 or, if it is newer than this, how it was newly built.
Various other limits apply to what would be classed as permitted development when it comes to house extensions. When you initially consult with us, we can familiarise you with what parameters you would need to work within before planning permission is required.

In your home, you might currently live within limits with which your household has long struggled to contend. For example, your kitchen might often feel too cramped and cluttered – while a space like your garage could conversely seem rather underused.
However, a house extension could, in various ways, make it easier for your home’s occupants to, so to say, stretch their wings. For example, in giving you a larger kitchen, we could enable you to invite more people – from children to grandparents – round to the house for dinner.
Even if you simply want to create a larger amount of storage space or add a new bedroom allowing you to have guests stay overnight, an extension expertly designed and built by our team can make all the difference – as we can further explain when you get in touch with us.
We are approved by a range of respected bodies in the industry. Here is an overview of various brands that have endorsed the quality and expertise to which our workers routinely adhere.
